Indianapolis – Mamie L. George, 86, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 28, 2017.

Ms. George was born March 3, 1931 in Georgiana, AL. She served her husband and children as a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. George was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Rev. James E. George, Sr.; loving daughter, Annie R. Clark; and grandson, Michael Turner. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Turner and Anita George; sons, Deacon James H. George, Jr. and his wife, Gina, W. David George and Thomas E. George; sisters, Myree Gandy and Jewel May Nolan; 19 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

Mrs. George’s family will receive friends Friday, May 5, 2017, from 10 am – 12 pm at Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church, 1202 Eugene Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208. A celebration of her life will follow at 12 pm with Pastor Nello A. Holman officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family invites you to join them for a repast at the church following the committal service.
