Wilma L. Payton, 94, of Spencer, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Wilma was born on November 24, 1923 in Celina, Tennessee to John & Winnie (Murray) Stover.
Wilma was a member of Mt. Olivet Church of Christ; she was a giving and caring individual that loved to be with her many grandchildren. She owned and operated the Stover Markets that was at the corner of Missouri and Merrill Street.
She is survived by her husband: Carl Lynn Payton; sister: Judy Calvert; children: Carol Lynn Gilmour, Roger Dale Payton, Wilma “Jeannie” Chandler, Arthur Alan Payton, Angela Lee Galloway, Luann Frye; 21 Grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, son: Robert Eugene Ford; 2 sisters: Anna May Kelsey, Geneva Gray; 2 great-grandchildren: Lisa Dawn Payton and Tammy Ford.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Newcomer - Indianapolis Chapel, 925 E. Hanna Ave., IN 46227. Her Funeral Service will be conducted on Tuesday at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
