Indianapolis – Karen Elaine Hovey, 64, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Ms. Hovey was born July 8, 1953 in Indianapolis, IN. She retired from Liquid Transport where she served as a safety director. She was an accomplished interior design professional and painter. Ms. Hovey earned her degree of Practitioner of Barber Science in 1976 from Indiana Barber College. Her family described her as someone who loved music and was Journey’s #1 fan. She was most recently known as “Mrs. Clause” by family and friends. She loved soap operas, particularly Dallas, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. Her love for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable. She will be forever missed.

Ms. Hovey was preceded in death by her daughter, Amanda Hovey. She survived by her daughter, Michelle Pitzer and her husband, James; son, Chris Hovey and his wife, Bonnie; former spouse,Dennis Hovey; grandchildren, Nicholas Pitzer, Evy Pitzer, Peyton Pitzer, Matthew Hovey and Devin Sipes; sister, Janice Hornbuckle; brothers, Gary Johnson and Jim “Butch” Johnson; and many other loving family members and close friends.

Ms. Hovey’s family will receive friends Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 4 – 8 pm, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will be conducted Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 2 pm at the funeral home.
