Mr. Strode was born November 7, 1933 in Tompkinsville, KY. Prior to his retirement in 1979, he was employed as a construction foreman. His family described him as the neighborhood mechanic. Neighbors and friends described him as a great man, more like a member of the family than merely a friend.
Mr. Strode is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pamela Strode; daughters, Teresa (Brian) Brown, Gloria (Mark) Holbrook , Rebecca (Floyd Brandenburg) Strode and Jessica Strode; sons, Paul Garlin Strode, Jr. and his wife, Joyce and Richard Strode; brother, Wallace Strode and his wife, Alyne of Tompkinsville, KY; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
Mr. Strode’s family will receive friends Thursday, September 21, 2017, from 2 – 4 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 4 pm with Pastor Joshua Perry officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Strode’s family request that donations be made, in his memory, to your local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
