Mr. Carter was born April 14, 1938 in Westmoreland, TN. Prior to his retirement in 2005, he was employed by Amtrak where he served as a welder. He loved the outdoors, particularly fishing and gardening.
Mr. Carter is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Carter; daughters, Sheila Smith and Donna Santos; son, Darren Carter; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
Mr. Carter’s family will receive friends Monday, November 13, 2017, from 5 – 8 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will be conducted Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 10 am at the funeral home.
