Donald R. Sloan, 70, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Indianapolis. Donald was born on August 21, 1947 in Fountain Head, Tennessee to Warner and Mildred Sloan.

Donald drove a semi-truck for May & Company for over 40 years; he enjoyed racing at the Speedrome starting in 1978 until his last race 2001. Donald would spoil his grandchildren every chance he was given and he was an amazing conversationalist.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Dennis & Jeanie Sloan, Cynthia & John Phillips, Marcie & Pat Russell, Donnie & Kim Sloan, Greg & Ruth Sloan; siblings and their spouses: Gene Sloan, Sharon & Jr. Thompson, Jo Ann Sloan, Jerry & Margie Sloan; grandchildren: Joseph, Jordan, Bethany, Kylie, Kristy, Anthony, Emma, Dylan, Renee, Caleb; great-grandchildren: Brian, Dakota and a host of other family and friends.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Mary (Northern) Sloan; two brothers: Larry Sloan, Gary Sloan.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Indianapolis Chapel, 925 East Hanna Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. His funeral service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to his family.
