Indianapolis – Sandra Kay Chandler, 72, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018.

Sandra was born August 1, 1946 in Shelbyville, IN. Her family described her as brilliant, kind, enthusiastic and loving. Her smile exuded warmth and acceptance to everyone who was lucky enough to see it.

Sandra (also known as Wife, Mom, Mama, Grandma, Gigi, Sandy and Sam) was one of those rare people you meet in life that leaves an imprint, which can never be forgotten or dismissed. Her life’s mission was to make people happy and to give all of her love. That is something she certainly achieved.

Sandra loved to cook, bake, craft and sew. She even handmade bed-dolls for children in need at Christmastime. Her heart was so big that it had no limits. She aced Travel School and was a lifelong learner. She was always getting excited for the next book she could get her hands on. She loved music and enjoyed making music with her family. Sandra was very family oriented. She was an extremely loyal woman who was loved by all.

Her family cherishes every single memory and will always carry her in their hearts. There are no words to describe the immense loss of Sandra, but she is now at peace alongside her mother, Ruth Stephens; father, Ray Hogue; sister, Sonia Vanarsdall, son, Thomas J. Chandler II; and daughter, Mechelle R. Chandler.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas J. Chandler; daughter, Tamara K. Chandler; brother, Richard Hogue; sisters, Annette Meares and Denice Chandler; grandchildren, Kristi Cobaxin, Eric Alvarado, Melissa Oran, Matthew Alvarado, Tommy Chandler, Devin Chandler, Scotty Chandler, Kobe Chandler, Maria Laaser, Dion Laaser, Michael Laaser and Dakota Laaser; and great grandchildren, Angel Gomez, Mia Cobaxin, Joliet Cobaxin, Jehiel Cobaxin, Gavin Manchester, Madison Alvarado, Gabriel Alvarado, Tony Alvarado, Jenna Alvarado, Maddy Alvarado and Emma Alvarado.

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, September 15, 2018, at 10 am at New Crown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to assist with expenses. If you wish to assist them in this way, please click the red "Make A Payment" icon below.
