Indianapolis - David Harold Bowles, Sr. 76, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019.

David was born, during the WWII era, on May 1, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Edward and Mary Odom VanLandingham Bowles. He was number nine of ten children. David attended Tech High School. He was employed as a warehouseman for Indianapolis Fruit from 1994 until he retired in 2010.

David took pleasure in the simple things in life. After retirement, he enjoyed home life with his wife and son. He said that his sister, Ruthie, made the best green beans in the world. David enjoyed old westerns, classic cars, attending classic car shows and playing solitaire on the computer. He could sit for hours at the computer just looking at pictures of classic cars.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen Bowles; daughter, Renee; sons: David, Jr., Randy and Robbie; sisters: Beverly Ruth Foster, Freida White, Betty Welch, Inez Ihlenfeldt and Juanita Lowder; brothers: Orbie, Raymond, Russell and George; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.

David’s family will receive friends Tuesday, June 18, 2019, from 2 – 4 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 4 pm.
