Indianapolis - Bessie Mae French, age 76, passed away at 9:35 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 15, 1944 to the late Henry W. and Maude (Perkins) Johnson. Bessie was raised in Atlanta, Georgia.
She graduated from Pea Mount High School in Atlanta, GA. Professionally, Bessie worked in the medical industry as a nurse’s aide.
She enjoyed reading and watching QVC on TV. Bessie loved gardening and taking care of her plants. She cherished spending time with her family and Chihuahua, Pepper.
Bessie is survived by her loving children, Rita Harwell, Sharon Rhyant and Sonja Davidson. Additional survivors include, 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her son, Donald Fernandez and daughter, Belinda Dowd.
