Crayton Lee Fortner, Jr. age 48 of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at his residence. He was born September 26, 1973 in Indianapolis the son of Crayton Fortner, Sr. and Peggy J. (VanHorn) Robertson. Crayton was a 1991 graduate of Centre Grove High School. He enjoyed to work with his hands and worked many years in construction. Crayton liked to be outdoors fishing and spending time with his dog. He was very artistic in his drawings and would also build model cars. Crayton was an Indianapolis Colts and Indianapolis Pacers fan. He will be remembered as a man who loved his family.

Crayton is survived by his mother and step father, Peggy J. and Donnie Robertson; 4 children, Patrick Fortner, Emily Barnett, Tyler Fortner and Erica Back; brother, Michael Fortner; 2 sisters, Danita Fortner and Arionna Robertson; 8 grandchildren, Elizabeth Krebs, Joseph Krebs, Skyler Krebs, Eva Krebs, Bryson, Nate, Zorah and Daize; grandmother, Eva Fortner; grandfather, Vernon VanHorn; 4 uncles; 3 aunts; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Crayton is preceded in death by his grandfather, Floyd Fortner Sr.; grandmother, Genevieve VanHorn; 2 uncles, Steven Fortner and Buzz Fortner; and his father, Crayton Lee Fortner, Sr. in April 2022.

A celebration of Crayton’s life will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions at 925 E. Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
