Indianapolis - Marjorie Halterbaum Donnelly, 96, was born December 4, 1922 in Moline, Illinois to the late Orion and Naomi Halterbaum. During WWII, she worked at the Jefferson Proving Grounds in Madison, IN. She went on to become a CNA and worked in several hospitals for a few years.

Marjorie moved to Indianapolis and went to work for Bell Telephone Co. She met her late husband, Ernest Donnelly, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. They got married soon after and her wedding present from her husband was an ironing board. The couple built a home in Beech Grove in 1954. They adopted their daughter, Carol, in 1956 when she was 6 months old. Marjorie went to beauty school when Carol was six years old. A couple years later, she opened Marge’s Beauty Shop on the west side of the family home. She retired in 1976.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Donnelly; brother, Wes Halterbaum and his wife, Lila; sisters: Martha Murphy, Mildred Bates and her husband, Fred, Roberta Bertram and her husbands, John and Harry; and brothers-in-law, Jack Smith and Claude Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Donnelly; sisters, Madge Smith and Shirley Brown; sister-in-law, Pearl Donnelly; granddaughter, Laura Milliner Wade and her husband, Mathew; great grandchildren, Landen and Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews who were loved more than they will ever know.
