Indianapolis - Johnny Lawson, 88, passed away Friday, September 20, 2019. He was born December 19, 1930 in Harriman, TN to the late High and Sally Lawson. Johnny attended First United Evangelical Baptist Church on Mooresville Road in Indianapolis. His favorite things to do were attending church and tending his garden.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers; 4 sisters; son, Kevin; grandson, Brandon Vinson; and son-in-law, Lynn Roberts. Johnny is survived by his beloved wife, Wilma Crowley Lawson; sons, James and his wife, Vickie and Johnny and his wife, Pam; daughters, Anita Roberts and Gail Cogell; sisters, Sue Gilmore and Myrtle Lea Pike; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Johnny’s family will receive friends Tuesday, September 24, 2019, from 10 am – 12 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at noon at the funeral home.
