Indianapolis - Debi Irene Moon, 65, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019. She was born July 25, 1954 to the late Walter and Patricia Medsker Hughes. As a child, Debi resided at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home in Knightstown, IN. She graduated from Morton Memorial High School in 1972. Debi lived in Florida for many years where she worked in the travel industry before returning to Indiana later in her life.

Debi attended Emmaus Lutheran Church in Indianapolis and loved volunteering at the church and the school. She collected Native American dream catchers and various other items that she found to be unique in some way. Debi loved to read, do crosswords, knit and crochet.

Debi was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Patricia Hughes; brothers, Randall Hughes and Walter “Buddy” Hughes; and sister, Nancy Hughes Demaree. She is survived by her daughters, Lissa Stranahan and her husband, Carey and Melanie Holliday Muhlhauser; grandchildren: Noah, Ava, and Ella Stranahan; sisters: Patsy Hughes, Jennifer Kahrs, and Robin Baker; brothers, Raymond and George Hughes; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Gary Pendergraff; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

Debi’s family will receive friends Monday, September 30, 2019, from 1 – 3 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will follow at 3 pm at the funeral home chapel.
