Indianapolis - Joann M. Hinds, 77, passed away January 21, 2020 at her home. She was born November 4, 1942 in Tell City, IN to the late Thomas Robson and Marie Roberts. She was raised by Pete and Mary Ann Povinelli from an early age after moving to Indianapolis.

Joann graduated from John Roberts High School and went on to raising her children and working hard to support her family. She loved family events, especially having the neighborhood children over for dance parties during the holidays. She coached basketball and looked forward to watching her children play football. Her strong will allowed her to instill strong character and work ethic for the entire family.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents; Thomas and Marie, adoptive parents, Pete and Mary Ann; children; Phillip and Jillena Hinds; sisters; Rosemary, Freda, and Ola; brothers; Jimmy and Eddy.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Annetta Kashon, Gerald (Tina) Hinds and TJ (Carol) Hinds and her brother; Bill Robson. Joann is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joann’s family will receive friends Monday, January, 27, 2020, from 9 -11 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of her life will follow at 11 am at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Crossroads Handicap (Wheel Chair Basketball) or Riley's Children’s Hospital.
