In Memory Of
Cameron "Cam" Tooley
1996 - 2020

Cameron "Cam" Tooley -- beloved child of Michael and Danielle Tooley, sibling of Samantha Alvis and Jackson Tooley, step-child of Kristy Tooley, and friend to so many – died on Thursday, January 23, 2020. Cam is now reunited in heaven with his mother, his grandparents (Phil and Irene Golove, Sharon Pruitt, and Robert Lowell Tooley) and his three unborn siblings. He is undoubtedly using his great and warm sense of humor to make them all laugh at this very moment.

Cam was born to Mike and Danielle on October 14, 1996, after a long and difficult struggle on their part to bring another child into this world. Cam's mom used to tell him that no child was ever wanted more than he was and, as a result, no child was ever more special and loved. This remained true all of his life.

Cam was uncommonly smart, uncommonly funny, and most of all, uncommonly kind. He had a habit for bestowing unusual nicknames on people he cared about (Exhibit A being his ironic nickname for his undersized father, "Big Mike"), and loved cats, fiction, and movies. He was an incredible storyteller and gifted writer who could have been his generation's George R. R. Martin if fate had been kinder (though he never forgave the creators of the Game of Thrones series for what he described as the "abomination" of the final season). Cam loved and admired his big sister Sam and little brother Jackson, and loved his favorite foods of pretzels, Sour Patch Kids, and movie theater popcorn nearly as much, but not quite.

For most of Cam's life, he presented as the biological male he was born as, but for the last few years he began presenting as the female he believed he was supposed to be. In honor of this choice, Cam's family and friends began using the feminine pronouns and did their best to get to know her just as well as the Cam they had known before. They just wish they had more time to do so, but draw comfort from the knowledge that her gentle soul is finally at peace in a perfected body, surrounded by loved ones. She will be terribly missed.

The family will be holding a private "Gathering of Cam's People" service for family and close friends of Cam. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Cam's memory to the Humane Society of Indianapolis at 7929 Michigan Road, Indianapolis IN 46268.
