Velma V. (Lay) Emmitt, 74, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Indiana University Methodist Hospital. Velma was born on August 30, 1945 in Jellico, TN to Mitt and Wretha (Lamb) Lay. She was a graduate of Jellico High School. Velma had worked as a Sales Associate in retail stores. She attended Trinity Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Velma loved her "Lunch Bunch" from the YMCA.

Velma is survived by her children: Michelle Scott, Mikel Tetrick and Kelly Martin; siblings: Jackie New, Phyllis Gross, Stanley Lay, Drexel Lay, Patricia Hargraves, Randy Kevin Lay; grandchildren: Robert D. Kayler, Katlynn Hubbard, Tristia M. Nimtz, Angela Renee Mitchner, Vonesia Lynn Tetrick, Edward Pierson, III, Brittany Pierson, Jacob Brock, Emily and Ean Means; fifteen great grandchildren. Velma is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Cledith and DeArman "Dee" Lay.
