Joshua Christopher Hayes

Indianapolis - Joshua Christopher Hayes, 22, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 14, 2020. He was born August 7, 1997 in Indianapolis to Charles Hayes and LaRae Derricote. He was a very talented athlete and excelled in football and basketball from a young age. He attended Pike High school and then went to work at Amazon.

He loved cars and video games. He placed family above all else, except God, who was his greatest love. He professed a faith in Christ and was a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church.

Josh is survived by his parents, Charles Hayes and LaRae Derricote; brothers: Jordan Hayes, Jacob Hayes, Jeremiah Hayes and Josiah Hayes; wife, Riley Motenko Hayes; daughter, Ameyah Rae Hayes; son, Joshua Christopher Hayes, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Charles and Theresa Hayes; maternal grandparents, Marty and Chris Simpson; aunts, Ariel Herzberger and Kim Weeden Cowan; uncles: Blake Simpson, Brandan Jones and Michael Herzberger; and many other beloved family members and close friends.

Josh’s family will receive friends Wednesday, July 22, 2020, from 12 – 2 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A celebration of his life will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home.
