Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Mathes was the oldest of 7 children of John and Doris Mathes, born on June 30, 1947 in Indianapolis. He was married to Shirley Mesker Mathes 1966-1990. He was with his partner Kathy Wilkins from 1990 until her death in 2016. Ronnie worked in the banking industry installing vaults/Safes/drive-up Windows, etc. around the country.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, during Vietnam War. He loved John Wayne and Western movies, and driving his van through the country. Ronnie used to drive to the airport just to watch planes take-off and land.

He is survived by his three children John Wayne Mathes of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Linda Kay Satterfield of Indianapolis, IN and David (Patty) Lee Mathes of East Bernstadt, KY. He also has seven grandkids: Ashlee, Corey, Scott, Tabitha, David, April and Holly; 18 great grandkids; sisters: Patty, Debby, Elizabeth “LuLu” and Tammie; his beloved dog, Toby. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: John Allen and Tommy.

Funeral services for Ronnie will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest, shortly after at Round Hill Cemetery, with military honors near his Dad, Mom, and two brothers.
