Melinda Sue Simon, 45, passed away on August 18, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Mindy was born on August 21, 1974 in Indianapolis to James and the late Vicky (Kopernak) Simon. Mindy loved children, but she had a special place in her heart for children with special needs. She even committed her life to children with special needs by working as a bus driver transporting the children she loved. If you knew Mindy, you know she LOVED Disney movies. She also loved her sons, and watching them play sports, but was a daddy's girl at heart.

Mindy is survived by her sons: Andrew Simon and Damien Stewart; father and stepmother, James and Cathy (Slater) Simon, Sr.; brother, James Simon; grandmother, Jean Simon; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Mindy was an amazing aunt to her nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vicky.

A graveside service will be held at Round Hill Cemetery 5235 South Meridian Street Indianapolis at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 24, 2020. Attendees are asked to wear a mask with current mandates in place for the COVID virus. Prior to the graveside service, Melinda's family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis. The family will hold a gathering in Mindy's honor following the graveside services at 6565 East Vista View Court Mooreville, IN 46158.
