Roy C. Rogers
1931 - 2020

Indianapolis - Roy C. Rogers, 89, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020. He was born August 28, 1931 in Navarro County, TX to the late Roy Raymond Rogers and Annie Carroll Rogers. He attended school in the Navarro County area when he was young boy. When he was 10, Roy’s mother passed away and he stayed with his grandmother and several cousins while his dad worked on various construction projects.

Roy was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Navy where he served as an electronics technician on the USS Antietam. He served from 1950 to 1954. He was discharged early to return stateside to care for his dad who was critically injured in a workplace accident in 1954.

Roy started college at TCU as a math major and was also student teaching in the Ft. Worth, TX area. That is how he met the love of his life, Carolyn “Sue” Stockton. They were married April 7, 1955.

Roy started working for the CAA (now the FAA) as an electronics technician about the time his son Charles was born. He advanced in his career and became an instructor for the FAA Academy and later became a system engineer until his retirement in 1978. Roy and Sue enjoyed seeing the country and travelled extensively after they retired. That is what they wanted to do and how they spent their golden years

Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue Rogers in 2018 and his son, Billy Rogers in 2002. His sister, Myrtle Faye Rogers, passed away before he was born. He is survived by his sons, Charles Ray Rogers and his wife, Janis and Russell Lee Rogers

A celebration of Roy’s life will be conducted Sunday, November 22, 2020, at 1:00 pm at True Word Baptist Church, 2719 Tindall Street, Indianapolis, IN 46203.
