Greenfield – Brenda Kay McKinney, 75, passed away at 7:09 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Greenfield Healthcare Center in Greenfield, IN. She was born to the late Malcom Washington and Myrtle Ora (Tinsley) Thorton on May 10, 1946 in Cabell County, West Virginia.

Brenda attended Barbourville High School in West Virginia. Her hobbies were knitting and caring for indoor plants. Brenda loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. She enjoyed gossiping with her girlfriends and watching the home shopping network.

She is survived by her loving children, Ronald Everett “Ronnie” McKinney, Larry James McKinney and his wife, Melissa, Gary Todd McKinney and Robert Joseph "Bobby" McKinney Sr. and his wife, Jennifer; her sister, Verna Lou Payton; her grandchildren, Kaleigh McKinney, Robert McKinney Jr., Austin McKinney, Jacob McKinney, Aaron McKinney, Lisa Sexton, Larry Sexton, Jennifer Sexton, Jamie Sexton and Noah McKinney; as well as step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Sexton.

Brenda’s friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery, 621 South State Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140.
