John graduated from Greenwood High School, class of 1973. He was united in marriage in May of 1994 to Mary Linda Holliday in Franklin, IN. Professionally, John worked in quality control at Wurth Service Supply, retiring after 41 years.
He was an avid Colts and Pacers fan. John loved watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking on the grill and camping at Brown County, IN. and various other campgrounds. John loved mowing the grass on his riding mower no matter the length of time it took or any of the retaining walls he ran over at times! He cherished and valued his family.
John is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Mary L. Hoffman; his children, Michael F. Couture and Jessie A. Couture (Stacy); his siblings, Ronald Hoffman (Diana), Howard Alexander (Sue), Beverly Hancock, Shirley Mercier, and Darlene Lohman (Craig); and his grandchildren, Kayla J. Couture, Kyle W. Couture, Cole A. Couture, Daylen M. Couture, Jeradiah K. Couture, Jesslynn Couture and Tristian Jackson, as well as, multiple nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Donna Bumgarner (Robert), Phyllis Sarvis, JoAnn Chastin and brother, Vernon J. Alexander.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. and burial will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
