Indianapolis – Karen Rhea (Steward) Catron, age 70, passed away at 6:03 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Arthur Jr. and Wanda (Crockett) Steward. Karen was born on August 12, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN. She was united in marriage on July 23, 1982 to Robert Catron in Indianapolis, IN.

Karen attended Emmerich Manual High School. She was a waitress at Waffle House for 32 years. Karen had a big personality. She was outspoken, determined, strong willed, opinionated and a hard worker. Karen cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved playing Fire Island at the casino. Karen also loved her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Cooper very much, she called him “Poops”. She enjoyed watching soap operas and comedies. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, but she disliked horror films. Karen’s favorite TV show was Young Sheldon and she watched the series a dozen times.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Robert Catron; her children, Leland Grissom II , Kerrie Anne Grissom and Kristopher Grissom; her siblings, Sharanne (Paul) Simpson, Kay (Ron) Harvey, Kevin (Kathy) Steward, Kurt (Robin) Steward, Sheila (Michael) Craft and Kimberly (Ed) Quintero; as well as 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.
