INDIANAPOLIS – Rev. Elton Adams, age 75, passed away at 12:19pm on Sunday, May 15, 2022, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on October 13, 1946, to the late Boysie Mathias Adams and Winnifred Boyd Adams in St. James, Trinidad, and Tobago.

Rev. Adams attended Woodbrook Secondary School in Trinidad and Tobago and received an Associate Degree from Eastern Nazarene Seminary through their Pastor’s Extension Training Program. Rev. Elton was married to his wife, Elizabeth Adams, at the New Amsterdam Church of Nazarene in Berbice, Guyana, South America on August 28, 1976. They have been married for 46 years. Rev. Adams served many roles in the ministry including the Chaplaincy at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT and as the Assistant Pastor to Hartford First Church of Nazarene. He also served in nursing in the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and in the United States at St. Francis Hospital.

Rev. Adams’ hobbies included gardening, camping, and public speaking. He enjoyed singing Gospel songs and directing choirs. Elton also served on the General Board of the Church of the Nazarene as a Sunday school ministry representative and was a member of the New England Church of Nazarene Chaplaincy Ministry.

Rev. Adams is survived by his wife Elizabeth; children, Elton Joel Christopher Adams Jr, Endre’ Jeremy Adams, Eric Jared Adams and Evan Joseph Eugene Adams; siblings, Rev. Dennis H. Headley, Lloyd James Fields and John Adams; Grandchildren Elton Christopher Aeolus Adams III, Christian Selwyn Emmanuel Adams, Joshua Shahrukh Jayden Adams, Haley-Alyssa Natasha Adams, Endre Jeremy Adams II, Sydney Elize Johanna Adams, Sylesia Ellarie Love Adams and Vesuvius Camden Jared Adams; a niece Sanchia Headly; nephews Steve Headley, Laurence Fields, Lloyd Fields Jr., Zak Reiter and Luke Headley; great niece Solana Headley; sisters-in-law Jean Headley, Cathy Headley, Lydia Fields, and Betty Adams.

In addition to his parents, Rev. Adams was predeceased in death by his brother Selwyn Headley; aunt Ruby Moore; and cousins Frederick Phillip, Carlton Phillip, Hubert Phillip, Summer Phillip and Knolly Phillip.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Southside Church of Nazarene, 2515 East Thompson Road Indianapolis, IN. Burial will follow at Round Hill Cemetery.
