Morgantown, Indiana – Charity Lynn Hicks, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at her residence in Morgantown. She was born on January 8, 1964 to Robert and Carol (Redding) Lockard in Indianapolis.

Charity attended Arsenal Tech High School and graduated in 1982. She went on to study at Marion and Ivy Tech Colleges. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1998. Charity was united in marriage to Roger Dean Hicks in Indianapolis, IN on August 22, 1992. She was a nurse for many years and was always willing to take care of others. When she wasn’t busy with patients, Charity loved gardening and canning vegetables. She enjoyed camping and boating. More than anything else, Charity loved spending time with her family.

Charity is survived by her loving husband Roger Dean Hicks; son, Ronnie Lee (Kathryn Marlene) Burgess II; grandchildren, Mark Anthony Burgess, Roger Stephen Lee Burgess and Luzadie Kaylynn Burgess; siblings, Denny Pierce, Stephen Charles Lockard, Linda Douglas, Ronnie Lockard and Doug Lockard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charity is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Carol Lockard and her brother, Donnie Lockard

Charity’s family will receive friends Friday, May 27, 2022 4 – 8 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11 am at the funeral home.
