Indianapolis - Judith Ann Bailey Gathard, 71, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 10, 2022. She was born July 23, 1950 in Bedford, IN to Lavonne Hall Bailey and the late John Bailey. She was employed by JP Morgan Chase where she served as a bank clerk for over 25 years. She was a member of New Life Church for 38 years.

Mrs. Gathard graduated from Mitchell High School in 1968 and from Purdue University in 1972, with degrees in both English and Sociology. Boiler up! She married the love of her life, Paul Gathard, on September 15, 1972 at Mitchell Presbyterian Church in Mitchell, IN.

Mrs. Gathard’s hobbies included sewing, reading, trivia and putting together puzzles. She enjoyed going to church, singing in the choir, teaching Cubbies and spending quality with her family and friends. She loved her family, her friends, the Boilers and the Colts. But more than anything else, she loved Jesus.

Mrs. Gathard was preceded in death by her father, John Bailey. She is survived by her beloved husband of almost 48 years, Paul Gathard; mother, Lavonne Bailey, daughter, Amy Garthwaite and her husband, Grant; son, Ryan Gathard and his wife, Katie; brothers: Tom Bailey and his wife, Norma, David Bailey and his wife Darlene and Larry Bailey and his wife Patti; grandchildren: Olivia Garthwaite, Noah Garthwaite, Addie Gathard, Mia Garthwaite, Jack Gathard, Anna Garthwaite, Sarah Garthwaite and Julia Garthwaite; best friend, Susan Johnson; and many other loving family members and dear friends.

Mrs. Gathard’s family will receive friends Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 11 am – 1 pm at New Life Church, 7010 East Thompson Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46239. A celebration of her life will follow at 1 pm at the church with Pastor Doug Pabody officiating. A committal service will be conducted at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown, IN.
