INDIANAPOLIS - Carla Ann (Ison) Gaalema, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late James B. And Stella M. (Jones) Ison. Carla was born on April 7, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She attended Northwest High School. Carla married Charles Stephen Gaalema on February 24, 1973. Professionally, Carla was a restaurant manager and worked for Hardee’s and Boston Market for several years. In Carla’s spare time you could find her antiquing as she was an avid collector. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Carla loved her husband, children and especially her dogs deeply.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 49 years, Charles Stephen Gaalema; her children, Misty Walsh, Charles Gaalema II, Sara Davis and her husband, Paul; her 9 siblings; and her grandchildren, Mack Davis, Alexander Gaalema, Liam Walsh, Dylan Walsh, Brynn Davis and Lesa McFarlin.

Carla’s friends and family may visit from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark Petty officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 734 North Morgantown Road, Greenwood, Indiana 46142.
