Indianapolis – Michael John Monroe, 68, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023. He was born February 28, 1954 in Indianapolis to the late Theodore Roosevelt C. and Pauline May Workman Monroe. Michael was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served as a wireman with the 3rd 175mm Howitzer Battery, 1st Field Artillery Group at 29 Palms, CA from 1971 – 1975. Additionally, he was deployed to Okinawa for a year.

Michael graduated from Howe High School in 1972. His hobbies included camping, fishing and playing Risk and euchre. He loved his family and telling jokes. He enjoyed sitting by a bonfire drinking ice cold Pepsi.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Roosevelt C. and Pauline May Workman Monroe; daughter, Emily Monroe; and brother, Bob Monroe. He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina Bell; sisters, Patricia Monroe and Evelyn Miniard and her husband, Carroll; brothers, Thomas Monroe and his wife, Sandy and Roger Monroe and his wife, Michelle; sister-in-law, Pam Monroe; grandchildren, Kaydence Freeman and Avery Hazelett; nieces and nephews: Corrine Buckner, Ebony Yates, Ivory Buckner, Kenneth Monroe, Sonya Monroe, Kenny Hayes, Christopher Duke, Jessica Jorgenson, Jeffery Monroe and Justin Monroe; and many other beloved family members and dear friends.
