1938 - 2023

Donna Rose Whalen, age 84 of Indianapolis passed away on April 7, 2023 in Indianapolis. She was born December 4, 1938 in Pine Ridge, South Dakota the daughter of Frank and Lillian Bertha (Allman) Siers, Sr. Donna attended Holy Rosary Mission School in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. She married Robert “Pete” Whalen. Donna began her family in 1956 and was an amazing mother who raised 7 of her own children and an adopted granddaughter. She enjoyed reading Louis L’amour books, playing computer games, working crossword puzzles and word searches. Donna liked to be outside and especially loved to go fishing. She had fun playing the slot machines and even got her nickname “Gambling Rose”. Donna took great pride in all her family, and liked to take little road trips around the Black Hills with her mother, family and grandkids. More than anything, Donna will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Donna is survived by 7 children, Ramona Lewis, Melanie Redwing, Kitty Young, Frankie Redwing, James Redwing, Derek Redwing and Donna Redwing; 6 siblings, Gloria “Bunny” Siers, Patty Allman, Frank Siers, Theodore “Ted” Siers, Reggie Siers and Kenny Siers; 21 grandchildren, Carleen Palms, Clarissa Kline, Bobby Tupa, Scott Richards, Brandee Oliver, JR Lewis, Donovan Lewis, Patrick Richards, Arlee Stark, Derek Richards, Jesse Rodriguez, Franchiska Rodriguez, Tonya Hatch, Robert Young, Lyle Young, Eddie Young, Kitten Young, Jesse Redwing, Darrell Redwing, James Redwing and Taelor Redwing; 36 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Siers; father, Frank Siers; step-father, Adolph Bissonette; husband, Robert “Pete” Whalen; 4 sisters, Adele Adkins, Theodora “Dori” Siers, Darlene Young and Lyndell Allman; and 2 brothers, William “Scala” Siers and Orville “Boby” Siers.

A celebration of Donna’s life will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Weston County Event Center, 24 Fairgrounds Road, Newcastle, Wyoming. A reception to share memories will follow with food and drinks. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions in Indianapolis is honored to handle Donna’s cremation arrangements.
