Janet Gentry
1940 - 2023

Janet Marie Gentry, age 82 of Mooresville, Indiana, passed away on May 8, 2023. She was born to Louis and Laura Frye on May 24, 1940.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Paul Gentry; Children, Cliff Gentry, Mark Gentry, and Linda Chrenko; Nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; Siblings, Gerry Underwood, Louis Frye, Kenny Frye, and Dale Frye. She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Bill, James, and Denver Frye.

Janet grew up in the country, outside of Blooming Grove, Indiana. Her family lived on a small farm where she loved playing with her brothers and sisters, studying her schoolwork (especially history), and getting dolled up in new dresses from her Daddy when company came over.

At the age of sixteen, she met “Paul” Gentry. What started as seeing a cute boy on a hayride, turned into a sixty-six yearlong marriage. Janet spent her young adult years happily married, raising her three children and tending to their “little white house on the hill” in Green Township (later, their home in Mooresville). If she wasn’t at home dolling up the kids for an adventure or canning tomatoes from the garden, you could find her at church or her parents’ house for their “Sunday night dinners.”

Janet’s care for others continued into her years as “Nana.” From epic Christmases with the family to caring for her mother and mother-in-law in their last years, she left a legacy of true love. She had a schedule packed with the activities of her nine grandchildren. On top of not missing a game or show, “Nana’s house” was always stirring with conversation and play.

As her children and grandchildren grew, “Nana” found a bonus family at Meijer in Camby, Indiana. Her sweet smile and warm voice greeted customers for many years. In her spare time, she collected antiques, watched old Hollywood movies, bought more clothes than any one person could wear, and continued to be the heart of her family as she welcomed many great-grandchildren into the world.

Janet will be remembered and celebrated through a viewing, service, and reception (see information below). The family would love for anyone able, to attend in her honor. Bright colors and big smiles are encouraged.
