Listen to Obituary

Amy Sue Hylton (Gambel), born October 5, 1965, passed peacefully on March 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Amy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend whose warmth and light touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Amy was the kind of person whose smile could brighten even the heaviest of days. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—sharing a cup of coffee and a good conversation, keeping a tidy home, tending to her yard, and expressing her love through baking and cooking. She adored animals, especially dogs, and had a special fondness for Winnie the Pooh, whose gentle spirit mirrored her own.

For more than 25 years, Amy faced the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis with quiet strength and remarkable grace. Though the disease brought hardships, it never diminished her kindness, her laughter, or her ability to make others feel seen and loved. She remained a steady source of comfort, positivity, and resilience—an enduring light to all who knew her.

Amy is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Jay Hylton, and her devoted son and caregiver, Ian (Kylie) Hylton. She was the youngest of five sisters—Karen (Joe) Boggs, Beth Boggs, Linda King, and Mary Buis—and cherished the lifelong and unique connections she shared with each of them. Amy was also blessed with many cousins, nieces, and nephews, a lifelong best friend, Tracie Glass, and two beloved chosen siblings, Myke Miller and Margaret Stuart Nimz.

She is preceded in death by her father, Richard Franklin Gambel, and is lovingly remembered by her mother, Mary Kay Gambel.

Amy will be remembered for her gentle heart, her enduring strength, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering spirit.

A funeral service for Amy will be held Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions located at 925 East Hanna Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. Friends may gather for visitation from 2 pm until the time of the service.
