Anton Carl Swartz III, affectionately known as "Andy," was born on October 16, 1954, in Beech Grove, Indiana. His journey through life came to a close on May 29, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, while surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, Teresa "Teri" (Vaughn) Swartz.
A proud graduate of Southport High School, Class of 1973, Andy subsequently served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976 and continued his commitment to his country in the Indiana National Guard until 1985. His military service was a source of patriotic pride, reflecting a dedication that resonated deeply with those who knew him.
Professionally, Andy was well-respected as a Folding Machine Operator for Cenveo Envelope Corporation, where his work ethic and diligence were admired by many. However, it was not just in his career that he made an impact; Andy was a beloved jokester and incredible storyteller, with a spirited personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He never encountered a stranger, making friends easily and fostering connections that enriched his life and those around him.
In his leisure time, he adored traveling, particularly relishing moments that involved trains. His passion extended to cars, steam engines, tractors, and anything with an engine and wheels, showcasing his lifelong fascination with machinery. Above all, his proudest accomplishments were tied to his family. He cherished the roles of husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, holding these titles with deep pride and joy.
Andy is survived by his loving wife, Teresa "Teri" Swartz; his children Christina Robertson, Lina (Brad) Swartz-Sego, Catherine (Anthony) Swartz-Harvey, and Anton "Tony" (Natashia) Swartz IV; his grandchildren Brandon, Dana, Michelle, Cheyenne, Madison (Ethan), Joe, and Eliza; and his great-grandchild Alexandra.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alferd and Nellie Jane (Adams) Swartz, and his brother, Lewis Swartz.
The community will gather to celebrate Andy’s life through visitation on June 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home in Indianapolis, Indiana. He will then be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana, on June 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
Anton Carl Swartz III will be remembered not only for the legacy he leaves behind but also for the vibrant spirit he brought into the lives of many. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
