Barbara Jo Chipps

Barbara Jo (Shaffer) Chipps, 73, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at her home in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on November 22, 1950 to the late Charles A. and Agnes (Jones) Shaffer in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Barbara married William Warren Chips Sr. in August of 1965 in Oakland, Maryland.

She attended Central Junior High School in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Professionally, Barbara worked as a housekeeper for most of her life. She enjoyed traveling to West Virginia, eating Italian food and taking an occasional trip to the casino. Barbara’s hobbies were playing cards and watching TV. She cherished beautiful sunny days in the summer, it was her favorite time of year. Barbara loved her family deeply. She was loving, caring and always helped anyone she possibly could.

Barbara is survived by her loving son, Adam Chipps; siblings, Lyndal and Glenn Shaffer; half-brother, Bud Shaffer; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, William Warren Chipps Sr.; son, William Virgil "Billy" Chips Jr.; and siblings: Sylvia, Hazel, Kathy and Chuck.

Barbara’s friends and family may visit from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Brandon Awrey officiating.
