Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara J. Crandell-Mynatt, who lost her battle with cancer on July 25, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by her husband and family.

Barbara “Barbie” was born on December 23, 1968, in Flint, Michigan, to her parents, Margaret Rose Sabatini and the late Charles Leonard Lang. She had four siblings: her sisters Kathy Lab, Kristi Homan, Tammy Storey, and her late brother Robert Lang. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Leon Eurith, grandmother Juanita Eurich, uncle Steven Eurich, aunt Kristi Eurich, father Charles, brother Bob, and her niece Tiffany Lang. Throughout her life, she had four children: her daughter Erica Lang-Wert, her son Alex Emigh, and two beautiful daughters whom she lovingly chose to place for adoption.

Barb married David Mynatt, of Indianapolis, Indiana in a mountain ceremony on February 8, 2020. Dave’s love for his wife was unwavering and unconditional, and Barb knew it. He stood by her side, holding her hand until her last breath.

Barbie lived with a spirit that refused to be dimmed. She found joy in the small things, such as a warm morning breeze, a good laugh, or a song she loved to turn up just a little too loud. She spent time living among the mountains of Tennessee and the beaches of Texas, and she loved to travel before settling down in Indianapolis. She carried a natural brightness that drew people in, and even in difficult seasons, she held onto a fierce desire to experience the world fully.

One thing about Barb was her undeniable love for animals. She cared for many dogs over the years, each one loved and spoiled in their own way—but Caesar was her baby. Their bond was something everyone could see. Her home was never quiet, never dull, and always filled with wagging tails. She leaves behind Caesar, Ulyssa, Monica, Mira, and Nova, and Spots.

She will be missed deeply by her family and friends, including her husband, Dave; her children Erica and Alex; her sisters Kristi, Kathy, and Tammy; her nieces and nephews Krysta, Josh, Kevin, James, Rose, Tony, Jeff, and Eric; her grandson Markus; her friend Reece; and her bonus grandson Markel. Until we meet again, rest in peace Barbie Jean. We love you forever.
