After his dedicated service in law enforcement, he transitioned to a fulfilling career with Citizen's Gas, continuing to share his remarkable work ethic for another decade.
Recognized for his robust personality, Bernie was a natural storyteller whose laughter and friendly demeanor could light up any room. His magic was in his ability to connect with everyone around him. He was known for never meeting a stranger and could fix almost anything he encountered, embodying an adventurous spirit that embraced challenges with enthusiasm.
In addition to his careers, Bernie found great joy in the company of his family. He cherished the opportunity to bond with his son, Joe Smith, through various activities, including running a baseball card shop together. Bernie played an integral role in coaching Joe's baseball team during his youth, fostering a love for the game that extended beyond the field.
