Daniel West Flanagan

Daniel West Flanagan, 50, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 29, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 25, 1975, to the late Troy Flanagan and the late Brenda (Hagan) Flanagan.

Daniel lived life with infectious energy and a sharp sense of humor. A practical jokester to the extreme, he was quick with a one-liner or a prank, and he loved nothing more than making people laugh. Yet beneath the mischief was a man who was deeply caring and dependable, always the first to lend a hand when someone needed help, no matter the situation.

His interests were as wide-ranging as his personality. Daniel loved music of every kind and rarely went a day without it. He had a passion for car audio and was proud of the sound systems he built. He was equally proud of his cars, keeping them spotless—sometimes by extreme measures—and ensuring they always looked and smelled as good as he did. Staying busy came naturally to him, whether working on a project, enjoying a snack, helping a friend, or finding something new to tinker with. Guns were another interest of his, and he enjoyed collecting and taking care of them.

Daniel’s softer side showed most in the way he loved animals and his family. His love of dogs was a constant in his life, and his playful spirit shone brightest when spending time with his grandson. He loved to heckle and playfight with him, turning even the smallest interactions into moments of joy and laughter. He also had a habit of snapping pictures when people weren’t looking—little candid glimpses of life that now mean so much.

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Emily Frye; his grandson, Jameson Frye; his brother, Rick Flanagan; nieces, Natasha Flanagan and Avery Flanagan; and the mother of his child, Dawn Coyle.

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Troy and Brenda Flanagan; and his grandma Cora Hagan.

The family will receive guests on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions, 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 PM.
