David B. Yanasak, a dedicated businessman and devoted family man, passed away on April 23, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana at the age of 69. Born on July 8, 1955, in Niles, Michigan, David made significant contributions to both his community and his family during his lifetime.
David's career began with a strong foundation as he entered the National Tool and Machine Association mold maker program, where he honed his skills and developed a lifelong passion for his trade. In 1984, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by starting Century Tool and Engineering alongside his father. A decade later, in 2004, David took full ownership of the business, a reflection of his hard work and dedication.
Throughout his life, David exemplified a relentless work ethic. His commitment extended beyond the workplace; he cherished teaching his younger brother and children about the great outdoors, sharing his deep-seated love for nature. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, always eager to share his passion with others. One of his proudest accomplishments was being featured in the Indiana Deer Hunters Association and Buckmaster's Association Record Book, a testament to his skills and dedication to hunting. His enthusiasm for the outdoors was matched only by his affection for his dogs-Tick, Blossom, Newt, Skeeter, and Moose--and riding his motorcycle, which brought him great joy.
David served honorably in the United States Navy, enlisting in 1973 and dedicating six years of service to his country. This experience shaped his character and instilled a sense of discipline, which he carried into every aspect of his life. He also served as president of the Capitol City Conservation Club for 20 years, showcasing his dedication to conservation efforts. His leadership also extended to several years as president of the Five Points Conservation Club.
David is survived by his loving wife, Dawn L. Yanasak, and his cherished children: Rose (Jim) Fugit, Michael (Brittany) Yanasak, and Toni Bruce. He is also remembered by his siblings, Richard A. (Debra) Yanasak, Lynne A. (Bil) Rogers, Mary A. (Eric) Clements, and Denice (Billy) Parks. Additionally, his legacy continues through six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his father, David J. Yanasak, his mother, Betty J. Freeman, and his sister, Sharon Yanasak.
To honor David's life, friends may gather for visitation on Thursday, May 1 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 925 East Hanna Avenue in Indianapolis.
