Deborah Sue Howell, affectionately known to many as “Boots,” passed away on July 30, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 66. Born on January 25, 1960, in Beech Grove, Indiana, Deborah lived a full and impactful life devoted to her family, friends, and those she cared for in her community.
Deborah was the cherished daughter of the late Clifford and Frances Sanders. Throughout her life, she embodied kindness, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Travis Howell Sr., her son Joseph Howell, her daughter Misty Bruce, and her grandson Bentlee Howell. Though their losses brought her great sorrow, she found immense strength in her devotion to those close to her and strove to honor their memories every day.
Deborah is survived by her loving sons, Travis Howell Jr. and Samuel Howell, who carry forward her legacy of compassion and dedication. She was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Deborah additionally delighted in the company and laughter of her five great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with the youngest generation of her family.
Above all, Deborah was a woman gifted with a generous and nurturing spirit. She derived immense joy from caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, building bonds and memories that will be cherished for years to come. Deborah was also known for her fondness for Bingo, which gave her both entertainment and camaraderie. She enjoyed connecting with friends through Paltalk, brightening many with her wit and warmth. Her home was always a testament to her care and diligence, as she took pride in keeping things clean, organized, and welcoming.
A compassionate soul, Deborah often extended her caring heart to the elderly, ensuring they felt valued and supported. Her thoughtfulness, tireless support, and ready smile enriched countless lives, both within and beyond her family circle.
Deborah’s life will be celebrated at Newcomer Funeral Home, 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A visitation will be held on August 5, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed immediately by a funeral service at 6:00 pm. All who knew and loved her are welcome to come together in remembrance.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, Deborah’s legacy endures through her family, her acts of kindness, and the loving memories she leaves behind. Her example of selfless devotion, unwavering love, and gentle humor will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
