Dolores Jeanne Rathbun

INDIANAPOLIS – Dolores Jeanne (Elsea) Rathbun, 87, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Greenwood Health and Living in Greenwood, Indiana. She was born on February 16, 1937 to the late Samuel and Alberta Mae (Applegate) Elsea in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dolores graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1955. Then attended Indiana Central College where she received an associate degree in business. Professionally, Dolores worked as a Secretary for Eli Lilly from 1961 to 1993.

Her hobbies were planting flowers, woodworking, crafting, bowling and golfing. Dolores was an avid Colts football fan and golf enthusiast. During the fall, Dolores enjoyed taking trips to Brown County and Nashville with her daughter and granddaughter. Also, she enjoyed shopping, dining out and camping. Dolores loved spending time with her daughter and granddaughter. She owned many cats over the years and absolutely adored them all.

Dolores is survived by her loving daughter, Laurie Ann Lambert & her husband, Richard; granddaughter, Emily Lambert; and niece, Jenifer Fowler. In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her brothers, Jac and Bob Elsea.

The family would like to thank Greenwood Health and Living and Our Hospice for taking special care of Dolores throughout her stay.

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.
