Listen to Obituary

Born on February 2nd 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Donald E. Cornwell lived a life defined by strength, resilience, and a deep rooted love for his family (although he didn't show it too often). He passed away surrounded by those who meant the most to him, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to live on in every life he touched.

Born to Clifford and Margaret Cornwell, he graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in 1965. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. Donald had a long career as a trucking dispatcher for 45 years before his retirement in 2020.

Outside of work, he had a love for softball playing and gambling for many years. He was a betting man, known for being strong and stubborn, and he fought until the very end. He didn't always show it, but those who knew him understood his quiet kindness that revealed itself in the moments that mattered the most. In the end, what he wanted was simple; To be surrounded by the people he loved, sharing smiles and time together. Where his absence is heavy, his legacy of joy and memories will live on forever.

He is survived by his loving children; Damon Cornwell, Dana Williams, Dawn White, Nathan Fox, Anthony Clouse, and Candice Cornwell, His Sisters; Beverly Hernandez and Rhonda Pagenkopf, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren who all carry forward his spirit.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Clifford and Margaret Cornwell, his brother; Connie Cornwell, his sister; Becky Cornwell, and his granddaughter; Gabrielle Cornwell.

Although he may be gone from our sight, his strength, love, and enduring presence will never be forgotten. He reminded us to stand strong, love deeply, and cherish the moments we have together. He will be deeply missed.
