Dwayne Elmer Cottongim, affectionately known as "Cotton," was born on July 7, 1961, in Indianapolis. He passed away on March 7, 2026, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

For 16 years, Dwayne dedicated his career as a Parts Delivery Driver at Ray Skillman. His commitment to his work was evident, but it was his devotion to his family that truly defined him. A devoted husband to Cathy S. Cottongim for 46 years, Dwayne was more than just a father; he was a nurturing figure, known lovingly as "Dad" and "Grandpa" to many people beyond his immediate family. Dwayne's ability to connect with others enriched the lives he touched, creating bonds that will last beyond his time.

He is survived by his beloved children Anthony (Angie) Cottongim, Tabitha (John Estelle) Cottongim, and Mary (Kenny) Myers. His grandchildren—Savannah, Justin, Emily, Isaiah, Aaliyah, Alex, Katie, and Dallas. His Great-grand daughter- Faithlynn. His siblings, Sherry (Gary) Cooper, Karen (Scott) Stevens, and Darla (Byron) Temple.

He is preceded in passing by his Parents- Elmer Lee and Mary Clestine Cottongim.

Dwayne was a vibrant spirit who enjoyed an array of hobbies and interests. He had a passion for watching sports, particularly NASCAR and Kentucky (UK) basketball, and delighted in spending time playing darts, singing karaoke, and enjoying bonfires with his family. Every opportunity he had, he was there for his grandchildren. whether it was shooting hoops, playing cards, sharing stories, or making them laugh until they cried. His love for many genres of music, but particularly Hank Williams Jr., provided a soundtrack to many cherished family moments.

Dwayne leaves behind a loving family and a community of friends and acquaintances who valued his kindness and warmth. His personality shone brightly, and his dedication to his family was unwavering. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be fondly remembered.

Visitation services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 925 E Hanna Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227 on March 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on March 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The Funeral Service will take place on March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM, concluding at noon.

Dwayne Elmer Cottongim will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. His spirit lives on through the countless lives he touched with his love and generosity.
