Eva Mary Fortner, born on September 6, 1934, in Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and compassion that touched the lives of many.

An accomplished homemaker, Eva's extraordinary talents were not limited to managing her household; she served as a respected group leader at RCA, exemplifying her dedication and leadership throughout her career. A proud graduate of Manuel High School, class of 1969, her educational achievements were a testament to her commitment to personal growth and development.

She cherished her role as a caretaker, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, especially those who were ill within her family.

Her passions extended beyond her responsibilities as a mother and homemaker. Eva enjoyed camping and fishing, creating memorable experiences filled with joy and laughter. She found happiness in dressing up for outings and cultivated a variety of hobbies, which included painting, gardening, crocheting, sewing, and baking. Eva also took pleasure in playing card games and bowling, delighting in the company of family and friends during these activities. Bingo nights and creative pursuits were among her cherished pastimes, further showcasing her vibrant personality.

Eva’s loving and caring nature resonated deeply within her family. Her proudest accomplishments included not only graduating high school but also successfully raising her children and caring for her loved ones. She was admired for her unwavering devotion and a big heart that held a special place for everyone.

Eva is survived by her beloved daughters, Mary M. Bitner and Donna M. Swanson; her 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren, who will all carry forward the warmth she instilled in them. She is also remembered fondly by her sister, Barbara Reimer.

Eva is reunited in spirit with her parents, Pleasant H. and Magdalen Blaylock; her husband, Floyd Fortner Sr.; her son, Floyd Fortner Jr.; her sons, Crayton Fortner Sr. and Steven Fortner; her daughter, Jennifer L. Fortner; her grandson, Crayton Fortner Jr.; her great-grandson, Dillon Fortner; and her siblings, Ida Ingle, Lester Blaylock, Richard Blaylock, and John Blaylock.

A memorial gathering for Eva will be held Saturday, June 7 from 11 am to 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.

The memories of Eva Mary Fortner will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, reflecting a life well-lived and a legacy that will endure for generations.
