Harold Douglas Raines, known affectionately as Doug to his loved ones, passed away on July 27, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on February 8, 1957 to George W. and Verna J. (Christian) Raines. Doug was a dedicated Manager of Car-X for an impressive career spanning from 1977 to 2024.
Throughout his life, Doug cultivated fond memories of laying in bed and indulging in watching Bigfoot and Paranormal Documentaries, showcasing his adventurous spirit and curious nature. Alongside his professional endeavors, he found joy in simple yet meaningful hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and camping.
Those who knew Doug remember him as a giving individual who effortlessly got along with everyone he encountered. His warm personality left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
Doug's proudest accomplishment was his marriage to Claudette B. (Smith) Raines in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their love story was a cornerstone of his life, bringing him immense happiness and fulfillment.
He is survived by his children Steven D. Raines and Brenda L. Hammer, whom he cherished deeply. Additionally, Doug is remembered by his siblings: Jerry Raines, Daryl Raines, Jim Raines, Denny Raines, Anna Raines, and Maryland Raines. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Tyler J. Hammer, Jordan J. Raines, Evan D. Hammer, Kyle J. Hammer, Kory J. Hammer, Brooke I. Raines and Braden D. Raines; as well as his great-grandchildren: Kaia J. Myers and Cora I. Myers with one more on the way.
Tragically, Doug's life was cut short due to a heart attack at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. Despite the grief felt by those who knew him best and loved him most deeply, he leaves behind a treasure trove of memories that will be carried in the hearts of many for years to come.
Services to honor and celebrate the life of Doug will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home Indianapolis on August 8th for visitation from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on August 9th for the funeral service at 12:00 PM followed by burial at Orchard Hill Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
Doug's life was an intricate tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments shared with family and friends—leaving behind a legacy that will endure eternally in the lives he touched with his kindness and warmth.
