Harry Raymond Kinder Jr

Harry “Bud” Raymond Kinder Jr., 74, passed away peacefully at home on August 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his beloved wife, daughter, and grandson. His passing leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, wisdom, and love that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Bud was born on May 24, 1952, and lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, generosity, and devotion to his family. He proudly served six years in the Army National Guard and went on to build a long and respected career with Amtrak, where he worked as a locomotive electrician from 1979 until his retirement in 2013. He was a true jack of all trades, an intelligent man who could figure out how to fix, build, or understand just about anything. If something needed to be done, Bud was the person you could count on to do it.

On July 22, 2003, Bud married the love of his life, Arlynda Rose Kinder, at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. Together, they shared more than two decades of marriage, building a home filled with family, laughter, and love. Arlynda was his partner, his best friend, and the person by his side through all of life’s adventures.

Bud found joy in so many things. He loved playing poker, going to the casino, and seemed to carry a little extra luck with him whenever he did. He especially enjoyed going to his friends’ houses for poker parties, where good cards, good food, laughter, and good company made for memorable nights. He loved golf, chess, bowling, and proudly being part of a bowling team in the 1960s and 1970s. In his younger years, he played high school football, carrying that love of sports throughout his life. In fact, Bud could often be found watching sports 24/7, especially football, basketball, and golf.

He was also happiest at home with his family. He loved cooking and grilling, and he took great pride in keeping his pool immaculate so that his family could enjoy it. He loved watching Ninja Warrior, game shows, and Maine Cabin Masters. One of his greatest joys was teaching his grandchildren to play Zelda, creating special memories that they will carry with them forever.

Bud was an intellectual with an endlessly curious mind. He was kind, caring, hardworking, generous, and fiercely loyal. He had a way of helping others without making a big show of it. He gave his time, his knowledge, his humor, and whatever he could to the people he loved. To his family, he was not only a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, he was someone they could turn to, someone who would teach them, help them, make them laugh, and always be there when they needed him.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife, Arlynda Rose Kinder; his children, Angela Rodriguez and Whitney Howell; his brother, Martin “Marty” Fry; sister in law Lavonda (John VanDeBanter) Temple; brothers in law Clay (Rhonda) Temple, Ron (Ruthie) Thomas, and Greg (AnnMarie) Thomas; grandchildren Jordan (Yesenia) Mujica, Christiana Mujica, Ivan Caldera, Julian Caldera, and Colton Howell; great grandchildren Javius, Za’Vaya, Ezra, Analia, and Yuriel; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his father, Harry Kinder Sr.; his mother, Opal Louise Settles Kinder Fry; his sister, Dianne Arringdale; his granddaughter, Audrey Howell; and his niece, Marissa Temple.

Bud leaves behind a family who will miss his voice, his laughter, his wisdom, his stories, his generous heart, and the countless little things that made him who he was. The pool may never be quite as immaculate, the sports may never be watched quite the same way, and family game nights will always have an empty place where Bud should be.

But his love will remain in the lessons he taught, the traditions he created, the memories around the dinner table, the games he shared with his grandchildren, the poker nights with friends, and in every story told about the man who could do just about anything.

He was deeply loved. He will be profoundly missed. And he will never be forgotten.
