Janet Thornburgh, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 1, 1965, Janet lived a life filled with determination, love, and an infectious happiness that touched everyone around her.
Janet was known for her outspoken nature, her kind-hearted spirit, and her unwavering generosity. She embraced life with a joyful heart and found great comfort in the melodies of music, especially country, which held a special place in her heart, alongside her love for pop. Her love for music was only rivaled by the deep love she had for her family. Beyond music, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from watching Looney Tunes and coloring to meticulously crafting to-do lists that reflected her driven and organized nature.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Patricia Thornburgh, and her two children, Melissa and Zachary. Janet was a loving sister to Pam Wright, Ana (Timothy) Gasper, Kim (Joseph) Mitchell, Jeffrey Thornburgh, Douglas Thornburgh, and Eric Thornburgh. Each of her siblings shared in countless memories and adventures, celebrating a bond woven tightly through the tapestry of their lives together.
Janet's life was enriched by many beloved nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews, each of whom brought joy and laughter to her days. She reveled in being present for family gatherings, where her laughter would fill the room, bringing everyone together in warmth and love.
Though she deeply mourned the loss of her father, Oliver Thornburgh, and her daughter, Terri Lea, Janet's enduring spirit was a testament to her belief in cherishing the moments spent with loved ones. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as they remember her steadfast love, her generous nature, and the way she made the world a brighter place just by being herself.
As we gather to celebrate the incredible life of Janet Thornburgh, we remember her as a kind and loving soul who left an indelible mark on our lives. Her memory will continue to inspire the countless individuals she touched. Rest in peace, dear Janet. You are forever loved and missed.
