Janis Mae Trietsch, 78, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 27, 1947, in Loretto, Tennessee, Janis was a shining light to all who knew her.  Janis graduated from Hamilton Heights High School, Class of 1966. In her personal life, Janis married Max Henry "Bud" Trietsch on September 19, 1970, in Cicero, Indiana, and together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Their union was marked by unwavering support and companionship. Janis will be fondly remembered as a fun-loving and caring individual who never met a stranger. Her devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren, and her passion for volunteer work enriched the lives of many. She had a flair for cooking, especially southern cuisine and in her leisure, time working puzzles, gardening, camping, and playing euchre, always cherishing moments spent with family and friends. Janis is survived by her husband Bud, son Mark (Heather) Trietsch, daughter Janell (Des) Woodruff, and grandchildren Owen Trietsch, Jada Trietsch, Kyra Woodruff, and Kendra Woodruff. She is also remembered by her siblings, Troy Morrison and Karen Chandler. Janis was a woman of deep faith, attending Assembly of God Church in Kirklin, Indiana since 1983. Her commitment to her beliefs was evident as she served in various roles, including teaching Sunday School, caring for the church which included detailed cleaning. Her involvement in the Women's Ministry led her to serve as president, vice president, and trustee. She was also involved with Kids Ministry which further showcased her dedication to nurturing others' spiritual growth. She also served as Scout Master for the Boys Scouts, and The Girls Scouts. In recognition of her exceptional contributions, she was honored as Woman of the Year from Phi Beta Psi Sorority. Janis will be fondly remembered as a fun-loving and caring individual who never met a stranger. Her devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren, and her passion for volunteer work enriched the lives of many. Her professional journey also included working at Walmart in Carmel in the Pharmacy and dedicating nine years of her life to daycare, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless children and she worked as a Teacher Aide at Sheridan High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Adle (Wiley) Morrison, and her sisters, Sheila Null and Julia Morrison. Visitation for Janis will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Kirklin, Indiana, located at 519 S. Main St. Kirklin, IN. 46050 on June 5, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Assembly of God Church 519 S. Main St. Kirklin, In. 46050, or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association 3500 DePauw Blvd. Suite 2070 Indianapolis, Indiana 46268. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will forever reverberate in the hearts of those who knew her.
