Jason Matthew Hooten, a devoted husband, cherished friend, and a committed professional, passed away unexpectedly while at work on August 14, 2025, in Bloomington, Indiana, at the age of 50. Born on May 27, 1975, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jason was a proud resident of his Indianapolis hometown, where he also attended Ben Davis High School.
With an impressive career spanning nearly two decades, Jason dedicated himself to TruGreen Lawn Care, marking his 18-year work anniversary this past July. His commitment and work ethic reflected his personality; he was known as a workaholic but balanced that with a laid-back demeanor that made him approachable and well-respected among colleagues and clients alike.
Jason's love for life extended beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid griller, often lighting up the barbecue for family gatherings and casual get-togethers with friends. In addition to grilling, Jason found solace in the great outdoors, enjoying fishing when he could and indulging in his fondness for basketball and football during his younger years. Travel with his beloved wife, Crystal, was also a cherished pursuit, although he always preferred the arrival at the destination over the journey itself.
On July 21, 2011, Jason celebrated a significant milestone in his life when he married Crystal Lynn Morton at the city county building in Indianapolis. Their marriage was a testament to their love, filled with laughter, shared adventures, and an unwavering support for one another.
Jason is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Lynn (Morton) Hooten; his devoted sister, Mackenzie Hooten; his nephews, Joshua and Jaxson Hooten; and numerous extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, David Hooten; his mother, Patricia Ann (Gilliam) Hooten; his twin brother, Justin Hooten; and his maternal grandparents, Lassie Shipp and James Hubert Gilliam.
As we remember Jason, let us carry forward the memories he left behind. His light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
