John Edward Lamond Sr., age 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Born on August 12, 1947, to the late Edward and Mary Ann Lamond, John spent his life rooted in the community he loved.

John answered the call to serve his country, entering the United States Army on October 14, 1965. He embarked on specialized training as a nuclear weapons handler and earned the rank of Private First Class before being honorably discharged in 1967 from Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During his service, John earned recognition including the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Qualifications Badge with rifle bar, and Expert Qualification Badge with carbine bar, reflecting his dedication and skill.

After his military service, John pursued a career in the trades, earning certifications in HVAC and dedicating many years to serving his community through his work at numerous gas companies and Yesterday Heating & Air. John will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family and friends.

A visitation in John’s honor was held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, followed by funeral services and burial at Calvary Cemetery. The local VFW and active duty military provided honors, a fitting tribute to a life spent in service to others.
