John Michael Tilford

John Michael Tilford, a cherished member of the Indianapolis community, passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 21, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana, lived a life to both his family and his profession.

For 27 years, John worked as a Residential Value Analyst for the Warren Township Assessor's office, where he was known for his dedication and professionalism. He retired in 2017, leaving behind a legacy of hardworking service to his community.

An alumnus of Arsenal Tech High School, Class of 1969, John embraced life with enthusiasm. He was known for his diverse interests, including bowling, playing darts, and his passion for classic cars and hot rods. Additionally, he found joy in playing and coaching softball, fostering a love for the sport that connected him with many in the community.

On October 17, 1982, John married Kathleen Mary Williams, who preceded him in death. Their union brought much happiness and love into his life. John was also a devoted father to his sons, Christopher J. Tilford and John David Tilford. He extended his love and guidance to his step-children: David Bailey, Danny (Kim) Bailey, and Mary Ann (Alvin) Copass. In his role as grandfather, he proudly doted on his grandson, Steven David, along with his eight step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, leaving behind a family that will forever cherish his memory.

John is also survived by his siblings, Allan (Nancy), Jody, Monica, and Chuck (Cynda), who will remember him for his kindness and humor.

Visitation will be held on December 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 925 East Hanna Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46227. A funeral service will follow on December 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM, concluding at 2:00 PM at the same location. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2446 Meridian Street in Indianapolis. 

John Michael Tilford's life was marked by a devotion to his work, his family, and his many interests. He touched the lives of those around him and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
