Ladies and gentlemen, gather ’round for the tale of Joshua James Nichols—known simply as Josh to those who dared to get close enough. Born on August 5, 1977, and having pulled off his last great disappearing act on April 27, 2026, Josh was nothing if not a master of many trades and a connoisseur of good times.

Josh was that rare breed: a Jack of all trades who could tinker with just about anything, fix things most wouldn’t even try, and fish like he was trying to catch your breath with a well-crafted pun. When he wasn’t busy making you laugh till your sides threatened mutiny, you could find him chilling with a Crown Royal (because classy never dies), swimming, playing pool, or causing mischief in the virtual worlds of PlayStation 5’s Grand Theft Auto and Madden. And don’t forget those fireworks displays—there was always an explosive finale when Josh was in town.

What you saw was exactly what you got with Josh. No smoke and mirrors, no pretending—just raw charm when he wanted it, boundless charisma, and an unshakeable loyalty that hit harder than his favorite firecracker. He loved hard and true, once you landed in his inner circle. He was the guy who brought good times when you were with him—a genuine good vibe generator.

His proudest accomplishments weren’t trophies or titles: nah, it was his children and grandchildren. The man wore the title of Dad and Grandpa with more pride and dedication than anyone could ever hope for. Some of his favorite memories are Air Show adventures with the kids and going on family retreats filled with laughter, chaos, and maybe a little bit of Josh’s trademark mischief? They’re the stuff legends are made of.

Josh leaves behind a crew who will doubtless keep the king of charisma alive: Aaron, Mackenzie, Joshua Jr., Cash, and Hendrix—his formidable lineup of kids; and his little fan club of grandkids Kinsley, Karter, and Wesley. Lest we forget, the finest baby mamas in his story: Candice Kasper and Sara Jackson. His siblings Stephanie Bradley and Jennifer, his beloved Aunt Kathy Brown, and his fiery nieces Kristine and River Marie—all still standing in his corner, no doubt plotting prank-filled memorials.

Josh is preceded in passing by his guardian Barbara Pence, his mom Nanette Dovell, and his grandma Joan Dovell.

If you’re near Indianapolis on May 4, 2026, swing by Newcomer Funeral Home at 925 E Hanna Ave between 3 PM and 7 PM to pay respects, share a story, or just try to top one of Josh’s classic pranks. Spoiler: you can’t. Not even close.

In the end, Josh wasn’t just a man; he was a force of nature—a living embodiment of laughter, loyalty, and notorious charm. Rest easy, Josh. We’ll keep your seat warm, your Crown chilled, and your PlayStation loaded. Game on.
